Digital Pedagogy Workshop: StudioLab, Transmedia Knowledge, and Experimental Theory

This workshop explores digital pedagogy as a general question and a specific practice. The general question: if we understand academic pedagogy onto-historically as a literate institution, are digital pedagogies still pedagogies—and if not, what are they? The specific practice is StudioLab, which mixes seminar, studio, and lab activities so that students can integrate conceptual, aesthetic, and technical learning, beginning with this very workshop.

Participants will learn critical design frames, view examples of transmedia knowledge by other students and experimental theory by such thinkers as Benjamin, Mandelbrot, McLuhan, and Ronell, and then explore making media with their own research. Please bring your laptop, finished or in-process research, and your enthusiasm.
