Digital Pedagogy Workshop
Co-sponsored with the Center for Teaching Innovation, this workshop explores ways to integrate digital media projects into assignments and syllabi alongside traditional writing assignments. What are common scholarly media genres and emerging literacies? How to structure assignments? How to integrate conceptual, aesthetic, and technical dimensions of writing and other media? How to provide students with critical and creative frames? How to evaluate transmedia projects?
Participants will be introduced to theoretical issues of digital pedagogy and concrete examples of its practice, and then turn to generating a media assignment and/or syllabus for an actual or hypothetical course. They will also be encouraged to begin formulating their own digital pedagogy, of which a teaching philosophy can function as a formal description. Bring your work, your laptop, and your enthusiasm for making media.
