Data Den: Introduction to Excel (hybrid)

Excel is a Microsoft Office spreadsheet program that is a useful tool for collecting, organizing, visualizing, and performing basic analytics on data. This workshop will give you the foundations of Excel use, and teach good practices for formatting, managing, working with, and saving your data for reuse.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Import data from external sources, perform basic data input, and navigate around workbooks and worksheets

  • Use formulas and functions to explore your data

  • Create basic visualizations like charts and summary tables

  • Save and export your work for future use

Participants should have Microsoft Excel installed on their personal computers before the workshop begins. We will be using the Excel app, not Excel online.

This workshop is offered both in person and virtually. If you register to attend virtually, you will receive a Zoom link. If you register to attend in person, please join us in the Stone classroom, room 103, located in Mann Library.
