Data Den: Beginner's Crash Course: CLI Basics (Virtual Only)

Are you new to the command-line interface or looking for a refresher? Join us for an introduction to essential command-line tasks using a Unix-style terminal shell. We’ll cover navigating and creating directories and files, using text editors for basic file editing, moving and removing files, and working with tools like pipes and grep.
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

Explain what a command-line interface is and when it is useful

Navigate directories and create files and folders from the command line

Use basic text editors to view and edit files

Move, rename, and delete files and directories

Use simple command-line tools such as pipes and grep to search and work with text
Windows users are welcome but may need to use WSL or another Unix-compatible environment, like Git for Windows.
