Are you new to the command-line interface (CLI) or looking for a refresher? Join us for an introduction to using a command-line interface for batch operations. We’ll cover how to navigate the file system, create directories and files, copy files, and how to approach automating batch operations on files and directories. 

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to: 

• Explain what a command-line interface is and when it is useful 

• Navigate directories, create files and folders, and copy files from the command line 

• Identify basic command line tools that are helpful in performing batch operations 

• Understand basic syntax of a command line utility (e.g., flags and options) and use constructs like wildcards when working with files and directories 

Instructors will be demonstrating commands on macOS using the default shell, zsh. Windows users are welcome but may need to use WSL or another Unix-compatible environment, like Git for Windows, to follow along with the examples shown in class.
