How Do I Fetch Data from APIs?

An increasing number of databases, repositories, and other services use application programming interface (API) to make data available to researchers. APIs provide an opportunity to request the most up-to-date data possible, as well as writing a query to select only the subset of data most meaningful to you.

In this workshop, you'll learn how to fetch data from public APIs to use in your work. We’ll compare fetching from APIs to other methods of retrieving web data, and introduce the JSON data format. No prior programming experience required.
