Workshop on the Visual History Archive of USC Shoah Foundation.

In this workshop, Rob Kotaska and Patrick J. Stevens will introduce the Visual History Archive (VHA) of USC Shoah Foundation, an online repository of over 54,000 video testimonies of survivors and witnesses of the Holocaust against the Jews, to which have been added eyewitness accounts of the Rwandan, Guatemalan, Armenian, Cambodian, Rohingya, and Central African Republic genocide events, and the Nanjing Massacre in China. VHA testimonies record both the individual experience of mass violence and the social and cultural world history of the twentieth century. The scope and relevance are applicable to disciplines as diverse as history, geography, psychology, fine arts, language studies, and other scholarly approaches not immediately evident upon initial access to this far-ranging resource. The instructors will offer suggestions on effective searches of VHA using its indexing and related features.

Zoom details will be emailed to registered attendees prior to the event.
